99 words?! How’s that even possible?
Well, actually you know much more than 99 Spanish words.
In fact, about 60% of words that we find in an English dictionary come from Latin. And if we’re talking about science, that figure can rise to 90%!
Most of these Latin words entered the English language through French, which was established as the official language following the Norman conquest in 1066.
Because of this influence, Spanish and English have so much vocabulary in common.
Similar or identical words in two or more languages are known as cognates. These are the language learning quick wins!
